If something is made well make something of it The Manufacturing Excellence Awards is the premier annual free award scheme for the UK manufacturing industry, supporting and recognising manufacturing success. Run by The Institution of Mechanical Engineers, the Awards attract entries from manufacturing businesses in all sectors – and because of the unique format of the Awards, every entrant is a winner. This is because everyone receives a customised benchmark report rating their performance against best practice and highlighting areas for improvement. The 2010 Manufacturing Excellence Awards were presented at the Dorchester on 23 June. Mark Prisk, Minister for Business and Enterprise who attended the ceremony and presented the Overall Award commented "Manufacturing and engineering are vital to the economy. A thriving manufacturing sector capable of exploiting new market opportunities will play a significant role in returning the UK to economic growth and prosperity. By creating the right environment for industrial growth, innovative manufacturers can have the confidence to invest in emerging technologies and develop overseas markets - creating a more balanced and resilient economy. The UK is renowned for its high-value, advanced manufacturing products and solutions and we must ensure that companies, like those recognised by the MX Awards, are given the support they require to exploit their competitive advantage and thrive in an increasingly competitive world."
