Business Development and Change Management

Sponsored by Lombard

When winning new business is dependent on your ability to adapt, how do you ensure any change of direction is implemented effectively?

With the fast pace of change in today’s global markets, you have to be quick to adapt in order to survive. And in today’s even stronger competitive environment, winning a share of new markets is more important and challenging than ever. The Business Development and Change Management self-assessment module can help you understand how your processes are set up to deal with these challenges and identify areas for improvement.

This section endeavours to capture how your business development and change management processes are used to win new markets: launch product innovation and instigate supply-chain redesign. Business development and good change management are key factors in delivering excellent business performance, thus sustaining future viability.

Congratulations to the 2011 winner Leyland Trucks

During the past year, there has been a global shift in demand for Leyland Trucks’ products, resulting in a need to adapt both products and business outlook in order to meet local customer needs.

Leyland Trucks is always on the look out for opportunities to increase their market share and implement new business improvement ideas. Staff are particularly encouraged to propose new ideas Moreover Leyland Trucks is able to successfully manage the cyclical nature of the business, whilst ensuring they provide what their customers want.

Based in Lancashire, Leyland Trucks is a wholly-owned subsidiary of PACCAR Inc. Leyland Trucks operates one of the most advanced truck assembly plants, producing vehicles from six to 44 tonnes. It is also the first European truck manufacturer to fit bodies to its chassis as part of the production process. This ensures factory quality across the entire vehicle, simpler after-sales support, and faster completion of a fully finished truck that can be instantly put into service.

Leyland Trucks success has been recognised by its parent company PACCAR, who has ranked the factory layout as the best in the entire company. Furthermore, PACCAR has asked Leyland Trucks to lead on the planned investment in Brazil, based on its own factory layout.

Leyland Trucks has installed a new computer system on its shop floor to record events and improve communication through the full production line, which in turn improves product quality accountability.
