Overall Winner
Each year the judges will choose, out of all the finalists, an overall winner of Manufacturing Excellence. To win this award, the company will need to have demonstrated outstanding performance in all areas of the Manufacturing Excellence programme.
A strong desire to be the best and possessing the vision to seize business-enhancing opportunities when they arise will also increase a company’s chance of winning this award.
Congratulations to the 2011 winner AESSEAL
AESSEAL has demonstrated world class performance in all areas of their manufacturing operations over a sustained period of time. Established in 1979 they have experienced steady growth each year, despite three significant economic recessions, and have developed into a company that is at the forefront of best practice.
Based in Rotherham, AESSEAL is a mechanical seals manufacturer, and has a direct presence in 104 countries, including 9 manufacturing and 58 repair sites, and the ability to conduct business in 10 languages.
Whilst growing its existing customer base, the company has more recently targeted the energy and mining sectors as a means of potential future growth. In addition, it’s moving away from being just a mechanical seal supplier and is now crossing into new complementary areas like bearing protection, seal support and healthcare contract management of host equipment.
Its innovative industrial water-management technology now saves customers over 25 billion
gallons (113 billion litres) of water per year. These continuous improvements are integral to their business and ensure that they are the technical leaders in their field.
AESSEAL has excelled in all areas of their operation, staff are motivated and enthusiastic, and the company has proven strong relationships with educational establishments. Also, their approach to financial management is particularly effective. Furthermore, the judges were particularly impressed by the company’s high customer focus, which resulted in them winning the Customer Focus award as well as being the Overall Winner.
Jonathan Wilkinson, CEO of AESSEAL plc, said: “The company’s mission statement has always been clear: to deliver such exceptional service that our customers need never consider an alternate means of supply. Delivering on that promise is difficult – but the business has been designed to achieve it. We have great people who care about customer service, and we give them the tools to deliver”.
